ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is one of the most commonly used thermoplastic materials for 3D printing. As a 3D printing material, it is ideal: it is mechanically strong, impact-resistant, heat-resistant, resistant to alkaline and acid solutions, and alcohols, yet it is easily amenable to both mechanical and chemical processing.
ABS plastic can be post-processed: sanded, smoothed, or glued with acetone. Processing with acetone vapor essentially helps to create a monolithic structure.
This plastic is flexible enough to bend under pressure rather than cracking.
ABS's resistance to heat and impact allows it to be used in many industries. It is suitable for objects used in adverse conditions, high temperatures, and for components that are highly susceptible to damage.
